3CatInfo: About Us
3CatInfo is the news brand of 3Cat – the Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation – that covers current events in Catalonia and the world, in catalan. Its main distribution channels are the website, the app, and the live news channels of TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio, all under the 3CatInfo brand. It also extends to social media, messaging channels, newsletters, and podcasts. The brand was launched on September 17, 2025.
Mission and Public Service
3CatInfo is built as a multi-platform ecosystem, in which television, radio, and digital operate in a coordinated manner. The objective is to offer rigorous and understandable information to the public, regardless of the channel they use. 3CatInfo pays special attention to public service information for its usefulness and interest to its audience, as part of its commitment of públic service.
Coverage and Content
3CatInfo covers political, social, cultural, and public service news, with special attention to the reality of Catalonia and catalan-speaking territories. As a public service of the CCMA, it guarantees pluralism, impartiality, and the public's access to information in catalan.
The Team
The management structure of 3CatInfo is led by Alberto Calatrava González (Television Director), Òscar Fernández Ferrer (Radio Director) and Medir Plandolit Casals (Digital Director). The full organisational chart of 3Cat is available on the corporate portal at 3cat.cat.
Commitment to quality
3CatInfo applies the CCMA style guide, which establishes the values and principles of conduct common to all platforms where content is produced and disseminated. The editorial line of 3CatInfo is independent of any commercial or political influence.
3CatInfo is committed to serving the entire population of Catalonia and also its language, Catalan. The production of content by the Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation is independent of political and economic power and is guided by professional and public service criteria.
Transparency and funding
The funding of the Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation (CCMA) is based on a mixed model, which combines public contributions from the Generalitat's approved budgets and income obtained from third parties (advertisers and the sale of products and/or services).
The CCMA publishes a Transparency website to make its areas of activity available to the public as a guarantee of responsible management.
History
On 12 December 2007, the news portal 3cat24.cat was created, uniting and replacing the news websites for Telenotícies and Catalunya Informació. On 11 September 2011, the name was changed to 324.cat, following the lead of the 24-hour news channel 3/24. On 17 September 2025, the 3CatInfo brand was launched, unifying the news website and app under a single brand, as well as the 24-hour news channels of TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio.
